Broadwater Rockpools Fun Day Saturday 27 November 2010

To celebrate the opening of the Broadwater Rockpools in Southport, the Gold Coast City Council are putting on a fun day on Saturday 27 November.

I have walked past the area where they have been building The Rockpools on many occassions and it seems like at least a year if not more we have been awaiting their finalisation and opening.

This is part of the Broadwater Parklands redevelopment and features a creek bed with pool areas which simulate coastal tides. It’s pretty cool, it fills up and empties just like the Broadwater!

As well as the rockpools there is also a new area with a kids climbing frame, barbeques and picnic tables. The new play area is dry! Which is a relief for parents who don’t come prepared for wet kids!

The free fun day which kicks off aroun 9am will include kids entertainment, sports in the park, pool DJ and some free giveaways.

More information about Broadwater Rockpools at Southport and other Gold Coast City Parks - did you know there are over 2000 parks and reservers in the Gold Coast city area! I had no idea!

My son and I played there on the weekend. It is a great outdoor experience for the little ones. Is there supposed to be water in them though?

Had a wedding there on the weekend. Two families coming together actually with little ones. It was a great atmosphere, full of fun. Great choice of location considering it was two families joining.
